Some of these days, I’d like to put into words what I thought about RyoPi leaving NEWS. It was kind of an emotional mess when the news was first announced, though it was not unexpected. Now that things have settled down a bit, and time has passed, I was able to read the situations better.

When the clock strikes midnight today, it will be Taec’s birthday. I had wanted to write a post only about it, but I’d feel bad for Hyesung because I didn’t do any for him. ^^; Was hoping I could write a fic but it gets delayed way too often. Hmm.. Talking about Taec, I kind of miss the old (young? XD) him. It’s not that he changed a lot.. Other than the fact that they were all shaken in one way or another after Jay left, there seems to be an expectations out of him that he always needs to step up to. He still plays around a lot, but there are times when I think he’s holding back a bit. 3 years passed by so fast. The Taec in my mind is the cheeky boy who puffs his cheeks a lot, asks for his glasses the moment his photoshoot ends, makes funny faces coupled with various hand motions without a care in world, and has a lot of aegyo though it doesn’t fit his ‘beastly’ image at all. I’d take Taec the Mega-Dork than Topless, Abs-Showing Taec any given time. =P Which makes me a weird fan, but really, when am I a normal fan anyway? LOL.

In a quick contemplations of the happenings this year, seems like there were a lot of changes taking place. Some good, some bad, but mostly had to happen, I guess. Anyhow, we learned from it and moved on. That’s how life is, eh?

NEWS 8th Anniversary 2011

15th September marks the 8th anniversary of NEWS!

I got wind of this fans’ project via twitter some weeks back and thought it is a nice way to commemorate the important day, as well as letting the jimusho know that, NOPE, we fans do not forget our NEWS even when they are inactive, and that we really miss them.

There is nobody able to lend a hand, nor is there a somebody who could halve the cleaning task. Everybody is facing almost the same thing, anyway.

There are things I am unsure of, which is why I have no idea where I stand. Where I should stand.

That, is the biggest problem.

Kim Soo-hyun and Cha Seung-won are not typically handsome.. unlike Song Seung-hun, should I say. You won’t be able to pin down why exactly people love them so much by only looking at mere pictures. Na-ah. They just draw you into the world/character they created, and make you feel as though you can’t never get enough of them. ♥♥

Decided to talk about something happy. ^^

Following my return to K-drama Land, I started watching [최고의 사랑 (Best/Greatest Love)], mostly due to the promising storyline and the fact that Kye-sang is in it. ^0^ I’m not familiar with the works of the two leads, Cha Seung-won and Gong Hyo-jin, but they’re not total strangers neither. I know they’re likeable people. XD Cha Seung-won was a guest in [Family Outing] once and he was totally hilarious! ♥ I like Yoo In-na from [Secret Garden] so I’m happy to see her in another drama. ^^

I have only watched 4 episodes (6 episodes are out as of today though) and I have only one thing to say: AWESOME.

Firstly, I totally love how they make fun of almost every thing in the entertainment industry. The most obvious example is how fans are obsessed with the artist’s ‘airport fashion’. XD Everybody tunes in to see what a certain artist is wearing on the way home/to some overseas trip and the next day a few hours later all portals have the photos ready, all retail shops put up the exact handbag/hat/shoes/etc on their shop windows complete with the sparkling mannequin getup.. and all the people scramble around to get a piece of that ‘hot stuff’.

Funny thing is.. It happened exactly the same in real life just within the same month! The bag Yoon Eun-hye wore in her drama, [Lie To Me], was on headlines and became the must-have item in town. AHAHAHA. News: Here.

Gold, I’d say. XD

Then we have the most unconventional hero playing a tough front who is really just a naive child at heart. Or in short, an immature grown-up.. who is not a total asshole neither. Even with all his irrational whims and impossible tantrums, you can’t really hate him. He has a good heart. (That’s a pun, but you won’t know until you watched. Hihi.)

The female lead is a down-to-earth heroine you would want as a friend. She’s seen as someone bad in the press, on the general public’s image, etc.. but really, she’s just a simple girl who has unfortunate luck with the mass media. She is not drop-dead gorgeous, she does not show off, she is smart without having to tell people that she is. Borrowing some words from the commentators at dramabeans, she is real.

Of course. We have the second hero possessing all the essential characteristics you would want in a guy: rich, educated, kind, handsome, cute, generous, attentive.. with a twist. XD He can be blunt, though he doesn’t mean anything bad by his directness (most of the time misinterpreted), he can be quite clueless to the society at large (like, he does not care enough to know who is the most popular idol group at the moment) and he is rather eccentric (telling his lunch partner to show her tongue, just to let her know that she’s been drinking too much? Yeah. That kind.).

It’s definitely a satisfying watch every.single.time. I had a thorough laugh, the characters have good chemistry with each other, the story flows nicely, the script is not boring, the speed is moderately fast, the soundtrack is nice, the supporting acts are in sync, and most importantly: they are good actors. Cha Seung-won can turn 360 on you in a split second. One time you just want to smack him hard, the next time your heart is crushing with his. Kkkhh~

Looking forward to more goodies they have in store for us! *0* ♥ (Now, if only Streamyx is not acting up. -_-)

Urm, so yeah.. 2AM boys have arrived in Malaysia!! ^^ (And 2PM are going to be in Singapore. -_-) I hope they’ll have good memories here and not getting tired out too much. I’ll be meeting them tomorrow but I really have no idea what to say or how to act. I’ll probably just stand and not say anything.. but I hope they won’t misunderstand. ^^;; Just.. I don’t know. It’s hard enough to find words, but it’s harder after it came to you and you realize you won’t be able to express it properly due to the time constraint, language barrier, whatnot.

That. Is me.

This post isn’t supposed to have such a heavy feeling. ._.;

I’ll just say: Nothing beats ‘live’.

So March is ending. I will have to say goodbye to Dongwan’s smiling face on my Shinhwa calendar but hey, April is Hyesung’s turn. :D

Seoul trip was an astounding success, despite a few hiccups which included me having to get comfortable in the immigration room, TWICE, listening to Korean conversations (and half-understanding XD) revolving around me and my faulty passport chip. Won’t go into details of the highlights for now. Hopefully I can do a separate nicely-composed entry on that alone.

It’s time for Malaysian citizens to do e-Filing over at LHDN. I’ve never done it before so I felt very adult when I received my PIN No. LOL. Just a casual reminder that trying to gauge my age over this statement won’t be accurate. XD

I stack more books every month on the to-read corner. Whether or not I can finish them off by year-end is another story. Patrick Rothfuss’s much-awaited sequel to the awesome [The Name of the Wind] is out!! I had wanted to buy it already but I guess I’ll get the cheaper standard-paperback coming out some time in November. [The Wise Man's Fear], you’d have to wait. ;_;

Looking forward to Bangkok’s trip for Yamapi. Told my parents so I’m all light-hearted. Haven’t really done any preparation yet though. I don’t even remember what time we’re arriving. ._.;

Watched Music Lovers where TOKIO guested and sang [LOVE YOU ONLY], [Sorafune], [AMBITIOUS JAPAN] aaaand their brand-new release, [+PLUS+]! I really like the song but too bad it’s only a digital single. T_T Frankly speaking I prefer TOKIO’s later songs than T&T’s right now. I don’t know why Avex is not taking advantage to hype up their comeback and give them super fantastic songs. I guess they’re too busy settling of Tohoshinki-JYJ dispute. -_-

Right. Wasted half of the day. Yay for tomorrow being Friday. Not yay for waking up earlier to have to catch the unpredictable RapidKL shuttle bus.

By now, my friends would’ve known my bias towards Song Sam-dong has overflowed. =P This kid has that something which just pulls you in. The intensity of his acting coupled with his raw emotions in his songs, not to mention his ability to switch from a bumbly country pumpkin to a matured boy rising up to challenges in a span of seconds are truly captivating. His cute babyface belies the age of his mind.

Watching him off-camera reminds me of Oguri Shun and Eita. They’re known for their cool acting characters but in real life can be quite eccentric.. and I’m saying this with fondness. Hehe. I guess this is why Soo-hyun and Taec can hit it off so well. Other than being the same age, they’re also someone who’s comfortable in their own skin and take life at their pace. Looking at them clowning around the set together like twins both amuse me and warm my heart. *coughs*

I’m not ready to say goodbye to our beloved Song Sam-dong yet, but I’ll look forward to more of his works. This one who’s nicknamed ‘the nuna-slayer’. LOL.

Oh, did I mention that he’s a leftie and photo-enthusiast? 8′DD

What other awesome way to bring me back to my roots than to get the Shin Hye Sung to do it? :P

As I watched, I was reminded once again why Shinhwa is my favourite group, and why Hyesung’s is still my most preferred vocalist even with all the current singers/groups who arguably dance/sing better than they could.

Shinhwa’s strength is their relationship with fans. When you watch their concert, you see them teasing the audience, even scolding them at times. There’s a two-way conversation going on between the sides, and it’s not the staple phrases like “Are you having fun?” either. You feel ‘involved’ most of the time, if not all.

SHS: We’ll only be doing two questions today. We took too long to finish yesterday’s three questions, so today we’re doing just two.

Fans: THREEEEE!!

SHS: What? No, no. I talked too much. Let’s do two..

Fans: More~~

SHS: I told you already. SHUSH! Okay, now we start.. *ignores the fans* GO!

Usually I’d find myself answering together with the audience, as though I was there at the concert and having to convince him to do a tad more. When he did, I felt some sort of accomplished; when he dismissed it altogether (especially when he was asked to do something embarrassing), I went whiny with them; and when he did something silly like giving a lame joke, I rolled eyes with the rest at his corniness and laughed along when he apologized.

The first part of [KEEP LEAVES] Tour was more of a fun, up-beat songs. He did a lot of preparations to get the concert going. While we were high with this dose of humour and his share of fails/flails, we didn’t realize the second part was coming. Almost like a lull to make us forget that he is the main vocalist of Shinhwa.. so when he struck with his best weapon, a ballad, I was rendered speechless. All I could do was watch, and listen, and be awed.

Right after, he said: How was it? My throat isn’t quite well today but I gave it my all.

Shrugging off the whole atmosphere as though it was nothing big. He makes it seem so easy.. ._.

On one of the more serious talk, he dedicated [Beautiful Girl] to us fans, saying: This song is you.

To this day, I honestly think none of his solo albums were able to capture the true essence of his voice.. most probably because it is best savoured ‘live’.

Really.

It brings out sooo much more in so many ways. Recorded audio and videos don’t do him justice. ._.

Awaiting his fast recovery from the horrible flu (which made him miss Eric’s birthday fanmeeting!! ;_;) and looking forward to his Korean comeback. 신혜성 화이팅!~ ♥
