January is already ending.. A lot of things happened, reality is not exactly sunshiny, however, as always, fandom becomes the beacon of light to help pull me along, away from the shrouded corner of darkness.
The very, very first thing I want to be all smiley about is unsurprisingly: SHINHWA’s comeback!! Things are underway and LiveWorks has started to reveal some tentative plans and schedules. Oppa-deul too have been showering hints and teasers all over the place. One of the major events that happened recently was the opening of Shinhwa Company’s official twitter account:
Everybody, go follow if you have not already! ^0^
As you know, my bias for JYPE has been growing steadily for the past few years. XD Naturally, I get excited over new releases involving JYP-nim’s boys and girls. Some weeks back, JYP-nim released a short preview of a new song yet refrained from telling who is it for. It is a pretty piano piece from a ballad so most of us guessed it was for 2AM. Today, they finally revealed whose song it is and needless to say it was an awesome surprise. The lucky owner is none other than:
KYAAAA~!! I am still not over this delightful shock but I am not the only one. My friends and I were spazzing via all social networks we are part of. HAHAHA.
On the drama side, I am currently indulging in Yamapi’s [Saikou no Jinsei no Owarikata ~ Ending Planner ~] and also Eita’s/MatsuJun’s [Lucky Seven].. and also, [The Moon that Embraces the Sun]. I am enjoying each so far, everyone has different charms they bring onto the plate. However, the biggest drama out of the three is definitely MoonSun. Ratings have been very impressive (30% at the latest episode) and the casts are receiving a lot of attention, both good and bad.
The drama started off with young actors playing their childhood scenes. They captivated the audience by storm (all of them have vast experience in sageuk/period dramas previously) which made it hard to move on to the adult actors. However, gradually the viewers become more accepting and I personally think they will grow more as we progress along.
I was initially interested in this premise only because of Kim Soo-hyun. HEH. xP I do not usually watch sageuk mostly due to the long episodes with no ready subbers around but I do like the concept and stuff. I thought I only wanted to start watching once the adult actors take over, planned to be from EP6 onwards. Reading recaps at dramabeans broke that; it sounded too awesome to pass. So I did and I fall head over heels with the young actors. They are really good!!
In particular, I was taken by Yeo Jin-gu’s performance in the drama, who plays younger version of Kim Soo-hyun. They are the (fictional) Crown Prince/King Lee-hwon. At first I could not see the connection, but this kid proved me wrong in mere minutes when I first got the chance to watch it live. He just nailed it in front of my eyes. His scene with the main girl, Yeon-woo (played by Kim Yoo-jung), effectively crushed my heart. The latter’s scene with her dad made me cry effortlessly. Just like that, my doubt’s gone. XD

Lee Min-ho (Prince Yang-myung), Yeo Jin-gu (Crown Prince Lee-hwon), Im Shi-wan (Yeom) and Lee Won-geun (Woon)
Looking forward to see more of these kids because they are surely going to become big players in the industry growing up.
I am grateful 2012 has a lot to offer, seems like it is going to be an eventful year ahead. Let’s brace the ride! :)
